Personal Information
Galen Rowell was born on August 23, 1940 in Oakland California. Sadly, he passed away on August 11, 2002 at the age of 62. He went to the University of California, Berkeley, and Berkeley High School.
Style
(With a move fast and interactive style of photography, Rowell coined his style as "Participatory Photography". The photographer is not just a passive observer in this style but an active participant in combining the elements in a photo together that wouldn't have happened if not for pre-visualization.)
Philosophy
Galen Rowell's philosophy was to get out there and go further, carrying equipment that wouldn't restrict his movements in his craft of taking beautiful pictures.
Influences
(What influenced Rowell to photography, he said, was not a desire to see the world through a camera but an intense devotion to the wilderness, which also lead him to become an avid mountaineer.)
Compare and Contrast
I tried to recreate this image by using a lake instead of mountains and i think if you you were to look close enough you could see the resemblance.
So in this image i used train tracks to lead the viewers' eyes to the sunset in the distance. And the trees and power lines off to the side are sort of that background object to blend it all together.
These two resemble each other quite well because the rainbows are pointing in the same direction and they are both coming from the base midpoint of the image and are both great examples of the rule of thirds.
